Welcome to Episode 21 of the 'Bakery Bears Radio Show'!

This is a very different episode of the show, we have run out of pre recorded episodes! So before we take a short hiatus prior to being able to get outside again for walks where we can record a show, we're back to discuss our five favourite walks.

Seeing as though this is a show that's whole purpose is being outside, we adopt some one off technical wizardry to try and make it at least sound like we're enjoying a lovely spring walk in the woods.

Welcome to a brand new episode of the 'Bakery Bears Radio Show'!

Thanks to some clever pre-recording, we are delighted to return with our next 'Radio Show'! In todays show we ponder the question, 'What would we do if Doc Brown turned up outside our house with his time machine and asked us where would we like to go?'

Along the way we are looking out from a victorian 'Tea House' built in 1908 and still serving tea and coffee to this day!

Welcome back to 'The Bakery Bears Radio Show'!

We are so pleased to be back with the latest edition of our 'Radio Show'. Thankfully we had pre recorded some shows prior to the start of the UK lockdown, so at least for the next two shows its business as usual!

In todays show we set out in search of an 18th century stately home, that became a school in the 19th century. In the 1950's Dans Mum used to travel past it on the bus and wonder what went on inside and the 2000's Dan worked there for many years as a music teacher!

Along the way we are discussing a subject suggested by one of our listeners. If we could give advice to our 18 year selves, what would it be?

Join your hosts, Dan & Kay as they:
  • Discuss Polam Hill house and its impact on Dan and his Mum
  • Discuss the advice they would give themselves if they could, when they were both 18
  • Remember Dan's grandpa and his greyhounds
  • You can find out more about the family who owned Polam Hill House here https://landedfamilies.blogspot.com/2017/08/303-backhouse-of-darlington.html
  • Find Polam Hall house today and take some photos to share with you. You can find the photos here https://www.patreon.com/posts/35079236

It's time for another episode of 'The Bakery Bears Radio Show!'

Thanks to some truly awful weather, we're seventy two hours late with the show! But we've made it, and what a show we have in store. Before we get started though, we just wanted to mention the challenges that the world is facing at the moment. Thanks to Dans cancer journey, we have some perspective on trying to deal effectively with stressful situations. The one thing that we desperately wanted through the dark times of Dans journey, was to feel normal. So, that is what we will be doing everything in our power to bring you every two weeks, a little bit of normal. Weather permitting, the Radio Show will always be here and we will always be thinking of all of you.

In todays show we are heading out for a wet and windy walk in search of a Victorian Bandstand. Along the way we are discussing one of Dan's favourite topics, the Romans! We're pondering the that famous question posed by Monty Python in the Life of Brian, 'What did the Romans ever do for us'.

Today you join your hosts as they go in search of a gorgeous Victorian Boulevard which around 1900 would have been quite the place to live!

As they venture out in search of this wonderful Victorian Street, they will be discussing how it compares architecturally to a street built in 2019.

Its time for another episode of 'The Bakery Bears Radio Show!'

Today you join us as we go in search of a boating lake. At the height of the age of the railways, our home town was like a Monaco of the 1900's and on the outskirts of town from 1900-1920, there was a huge boating lake.

In todays show we go in search of that lake, and along the way we'll be pondering has society moved too far too fast?

So join your hosts today as they:

  • Discuss some the challenges we all face living a world which seems to progress forward faster by the day
  • Talk through some of the issues that have faced personally
  • Consider if what we're dealing with in the world at the moment is a technological revolution, perhaps similar to the industrial revolution
  • Find and recreate the photograph included in this post over 100 years on!
  • Find the photos from todays show here https://www.patreon.com/posts/bakery-bears-16-33905491

We are BACK with a brand new episode of 'The Radio Show'!

After a short break, we have returned for the first in our regular run of radio shows for 2020. This year we are so excited to bring a little change to the show. Each episode we'll still be talking through our topic of the day, but instead of walking our usual route, join us on a different adventure every episode!

We have found a wonderful selection of old photographs featuring local historic places and events. Some of these photographs are from the 1880's. Each episode we will try and find where one of these photographs was taken and snap a shot of ourselves in the same spot today! We'll then share the photos on Kay's Instagram https://www.instagram.com/bryonybears/ - our Patreon page https://www.patreon.com/bakerybearspodcast and in the Bakery Bears Radio Show Facebook Group

So join your hosts today as they:

  • Discuss positive inertia and the benefits it has brought to the start of their 2020
  • Talk lots of local history as they set out on a route taking in some of the golden age of steam
  • Try and find Brunswick Street, famous for its 1953 Queens Coronation Street Party
