Welcome to the 'Bakery Bears Radio Show' Episode 25

Folks, we are so thrilled to be back with more Radio Show! Dan's illness took the wind out of our sails with our recording schedule but thankfully he's now back to full fitness. So we're BACK with a super exciting run of shows over the next few weeks:

  • In Episode 26 we consider dream homes and what ours might be
  • In Episode 27 we discuss gardens and what our perfect garden would be
  • In Episode 28 we're talking baking and how it became one of Kay's passions

But we start today with space. It has fascinated Dan since he sat out looking at the stars with his Dad in the early 1980's, but it also is a subject loved by Kay.

Welcome to the 'Bakery Bears Radio Show' Episode 24

We are so excited to be back with another episode of our radio show and today we're talking about conspiracy theories. Why are they popular? Why are there so many? Which seem to be the most popular and why are they? These are some of the questions we discuss in todays show!

Welcome 'Episode 23' of The Bakery Bears Radio Show

Way back in Episode 5 of the Bakery Bears Radio Show we discussed Ancient Egypt and we know so many of you guys loved it. So we are delighted to return with our next discussion all about probably the most famous of all the pharaohs, Tutankhamun.

Welcome to Episode 21 of the 'Bakery Bears Radio Show'!

This is a very different episode of the show, we have run out of pre recorded episodes! So before we take a short hiatus prior to being able to get outside again for walks where we can record a show, we're back to discuss our five favourite walks.

Seeing as though this is a show that's whole purpose is being outside, we adopt some one off technical wizardry to try and make it at least sound like we're enjoying a lovely spring walk in the woods.

Welcome to a brand new episode of the 'Bakery Bears Radio Show'!

Thanks to some clever pre-recording, we are delighted to return with our next 'Radio Show'! In todays show we ponder the question, 'What would we do if Doc Brown turned up outside our house with his time machine and asked us where would we like to go?'

Along the way we are looking out from a victorian 'Tea House' built in 1908 and still serving tea and coffee to this day!

Welcome back to 'The Bakery Bears Radio Show'!

We are so pleased to be back with the latest edition of our 'Radio Show'. Thankfully we had pre recorded some shows prior to the start of the UK lockdown, so at least for the next two shows its business as usual!

In todays show we set out in search of an 18th century stately home, that became a school in the 19th century. In the 1950's Dans Mum used to travel past it on the bus and wonder what went on inside and the 2000's Dan worked there for many years as a music teacher!

Along the way we are discussing a subject suggested by one of our listeners. If we could give advice to our 18 year selves, what would it be?

Join your hosts, Dan & Kay as they:
  • Discuss Polam Hill house and its impact on Dan and his Mum
  • Discuss the advice they would give themselves if they could, when they were both 18
  • Remember Dan's grandpa and his greyhounds
  • You can find out more about the family who owned Polam Hill House here https://landedfamilies.blogspot.com/2017/08/303-backhouse-of-darlington.html
  • Find Polam Hall house today and take some photos to share with you. You can find the photos here https://www.patreon.com/posts/35079236

It's time for another episode of 'The Bakery Bears Radio Show!'

Thanks to some truly awful weather, we're seventy two hours late with the show! But we've made it, and what a show we have in store. Before we get started though, we just wanted to mention the challenges that the world is facing at the moment. Thanks to Dans cancer journey, we have some perspective on trying to deal effectively with stressful situations. The one thing that we desperately wanted through the dark times of Dans journey, was to feel normal. So, that is what we will be doing everything in our power to bring you every two weeks, a little bit of normal. Weather permitting, the Radio Show will always be here and we will always be thinking of all of you.

In todays show we are heading out for a wet and windy walk in search of a Victorian Bandstand. Along the way we are discussing one of Dan's favourite topics, the Romans! We're pondering the that famous question posed by Monty Python in the Life of Brian, 'What did the Romans ever do for us'.

It's time for another episode of 'The Bakery Bears Radio Show!'

Today you join your hosts as they go in search of a gorgeous Victorian Boulevard which around 1900 would have been quite the place to live!

As they venture out in search of this wonderful Victorian Street, they will be discussing how it compares architecturally to a street built in 2019.

Its time for another episode of 'The Bakery Bears Radio Show!'

Today you join us as we go in search of a boating lake. At the height of the age of the railways, our home town was like a Monaco of the 1900's and on the outskirts of town from 1900-1920, there was a huge boating lake.

In todays show we go in search of that lake, and along the way we'll be pondering has society moved too far too fast?

So join your hosts today as they:

  • Discuss some the challenges we all face living a world which seems to progress forward faster by the day
  • Talk through some of the issues that have faced personally
  • Consider if what we're dealing with in the world at the moment is a technological revolution, perhaps similar to the industrial revolution
  • Find and recreate the photograph included in this post over 100 years on!
  • Find the photos from todays show here https://www.patreon.com/posts/bakery-bears-16-33905491

We'll be back in two weeks when we'll be going in search of a stunning Victorian Boulevade.
